Wise Men

If you want to read or listen to an interesting piece on the wise men that visited Jesus as a child, check it out here ... yes, it is a sort of promo for a travel tour to the Holy Land, but there is still cool information. Enjoy!

Fun in San Antonio

I went with my mom and dad to San Antonio for a couple of days. We of course spent some time on the beautiful river walk, checked out the increadible Alamo, and had fun at the zoo.

I can't believe I haven't posted this before now. And I can't believe it's already been over a month! We had such a wonderful time with family. We made a quick trip up to Utah for a sealing on Denise's side of the family, but we were also able to stop and see some of Matt's family too. It was a great trip- even if a little quick :) We had a lot of fun with family and enjoyed the surprise we got in the announcement of another niece or nephew. Yeah!!!
The gospel is such a blessing. To know that we can be sealed as families for time and all eternity, that marriage and family relationships does not end at death is such a wonderful gift. Our families are so important, and we wish we could be with all of them more often. We love each of our family members and greatly enjoy each time we have the opportunity to spend time with them.

LDS.org - Ensign Article - “Thou Mayest Choose for Thyself”

I was searching the the Church's website about a specific topic and I ran across this talk given in General Conference in the 70s, and while it did not answer my question it contains very powerful truths that we all need to be reminded of. I am amazed at how perfectly it still fits our circumstances today.

Professor Randy Bott's Blog

I never had him as a religion professor, but a lot of my friends did and I've always heard great things about his classes. I was also given his book "Return with Honor" before my mission which was very helpful. One of my friends passed this link to his blog on to me... it's quite interesting.

For the ladies...really

So I saw on a comments section of a preparedness site about this product called the "Diva Cup", I'm sure there are similar products like the the instead soft cup, but these are reusable. How great is that for the pocket book and for your year's supply? Think of all the money and space you could save. Just thought I'd pass it along. There's a little video on the bottom of the page that goes over it. Very interesting... It might be worth a try. http://www.divacup.com/

90 Day Book of Mormon Reading Challenge

http://www.lds.org/hf/art/display/1,16842,4218-1-3-113,00.html

Last night I decided that I would find a chart/reading schedule I used to have for reading the Book of Mormon in 90 days. I couldn't find it, so I got on the Internet to find another. I found a similar one, but decided to keep looking. I'm glad I did, because I found one that is quite different. You can find the details here http://www.maccabe.org/images/7/7d/90DayBOM.pdf
This is a more intense 90 day study as you read the Book of Mormon 3 times in 90 days- yes, you read that correctly- so you read the entire Book of Mormon in 30 days 3 times in a row. Each with a different focus. Today is day one and I am loving it. I decided to start out in a fresh clean book so that there were no other markings to "distract" me. I wanted to see everything fresh and new. I've only just begun and I am so excited about the things I am being taught. I hope that someone else will take this challenge because it is sure to be life-changing and a wonderful blessing. Or an alternative- if reading the Book of Mormon in 30 days doesn't work for you, try doing each focus over 3 months- so you will read the Book of Mormon 3 times in 9 months. I would suggest, if at all possible to do the original challenge. When I was on my mission, one of the stakes I was in challenged its members to read the Book of Mormon in 30 days, which happened to be right before Stake Conference. Much of the meeting was dedicated to this challenge, what was learned and how people were blessed. It was incredible. I have wanted to do this since then, but never got around to it. Now I will, and am looking forward to the next 89 days.
